Ways to fill the list
- One letter at a timeRegister the alphabet β "A", "B", "C" β¦ β and you have a random letter picker. Handy for deciding a starting letter in word games, or for spelling drills. Paste them into "Bulk entry" one per line to add them all at once.
- Vocabulary, idioms, and kanjiLoad the words you are trying to memorise and the roulette becomes a random quiz. Tick "Remove the winner from the list" and the same word will not come up twice in a row.
- A whole roster or listThere is no limit on how many words you can register (each one can be up to 50 characters). Paste a class roster or a list of candidates into "Bulk entry", one per line, and even a thousand entries will draw just fine.
- Only the words you chose can winThe only words that come out are the ones you put in. Nothing is pulled from a dictionary, so you can narrow the field down first β "one of these ten", "someone from this group" β and then draw.
β¨ What makes this roulette different
- Two ways to draw: text or wheelOne tab switches between a text display that flips through your words and slows to a stop, and a spinning wheel where the pointer at the top decides the winner. Use the wheel when you are showing it to an audience, and the text mode when you just want an answer.
- Winners can drop off the list automaticallyTick "Remove the winner from the list" and each winning word disappears from the list as soon as it is drawn. Nothing repeats, so you can decide a speaking order or split people into groups without deleting entries by hand between draws.
- You choose how long the draw takesThe animation can run anywhere from none at all up to ten seconds. Skip it when you are in a hurry, or stretch it out when you want to build suspense.
- Hand the result over as a linkShare after a draw and whoever opens the link sees the same winning word β including the wheel stopped on the winning slice. It is a way to show people who were not there that this really was the result.
- Your words stay on your deviceThe words you add and your draw history (up to 50 entries) are stored only in your own browser. They are never sent to our server, so even a list of real names stays with you. Everything is restored the next time you open the page.
- Motion can be turned offWhen your operating system is set to reduce motion, the spinning and flipping are skipped and only the result is shown. The draw itself works exactly the same way.
