β¨ What makes this converter different
- All ten conversions at once, with nothing to selectThere is no mode switch. Beyond "everything half-width", each character class β letters and digits, symbols, spaces, katakana β gets its own row, so a decision like "half-width digits but leave the katakana full-width" can be made by looking rather than by clicking back and forth.
- Voiced marks are combined, not left behindHalf-width katakana writes γ¬ as two characters, ο½Ά followed by οΎ. Converting to full-width combines them into the single character γ¬, and converting back splits them again. Decomposed marks that arrive from macOS are handled the same way, so no voiced mark is stranded on its own.
- Each character class is converted separatelyLetters and digits, symbols, spaces and katakana are treated as four independent rows. When converting everything would go too far, you can take the result that changed only the part you meant to change.
- Hiragana and kanji pass through intactOnly the width of a character changes here, never its script. Hiragana, kanji and emoji have no half-width form, so they survive every conversion unchanged, and hiragana is never turned into katakana.
- Your text never leaves the browserEvery conversion runs locally in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to our servers or stored on your device, so closing the page leaves nothing behind.

- Ten converted versions appear underneath and update as you type.
- Press the Copy button next to the version you want to put it on your clipboard.
- Press "Clear input" to empty the box and start again.
- "Everything half-width" and "Everything full-width" convert all four classes at once: letters and digits, symbols, spaces and katakana.
- Hiragana, kanji and emoji have no half-width and full-width forms, so they are left unchanged. There is no hiragana-to-katakana conversion.
- Half-width kana always becomes katakana when converted to full-width (ο½± becomes γ’).
- γ°, γ±, γ΅ and γΆ have no half-width counterpart and are left as they are.
- Japanese punctuation β γ γ γ γ γ» β belongs to the half-width katakana block, so it is converted on the katakana rows.
- Up to 2,000 characters can be converted at a time.
- Nothing you type is saved; it disappears when you leave the page.

- Is the width converter free?
- Yes. There is no account to create and nothing to install. Open the page, type, and the conversions appear immediately.
- Which conversions are available?
- Ten in total: everything half-width and everything full-width, plus each of the four character classes β letters and digits, symbols, spaces and katakana β converted on its own in both directions. All ten are shown at the same time.
- Are half-width katakana voiced marks handled correctly?
- Yes. Half-width ο½ΆοΎ is two characters, ο½Ά and οΎ; converting to full-width combines them into the single character γ¬, and converting back splits γ¬ into ο½ΆοΎ again. Semi-voiced marks (οΎοΎ and γ) work the same way.
- Can it convert hiragana to katakana?
- No. This tool changes the width of a character, never its script, and hiragana has no half-width form β so hiragana, kanji and emoji are passed through unchanged. Half-width kana converted to full-width always becomes katakana.
- Can I convert only the letters and digits?
- Yes. That is the "Letters and digits half-width" row, which leaves symbols, spaces and katakana as they were. Rows for symbols only, spaces only and katakana only are shown alongside it.
- Is my text sent anywhere?
- No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to our servers and nothing is stored on your device.
